Importing your existing CV
Upload a PDF or Word document and let CuliNect fill your profile automatically.
3 min readIf you already have a CV — even an old one — you can upload it and CuliNect will read your work history, education, skills, and personal details automatically. You review everything before it's saved, so nothing goes on your profile without your approval.
How to import
Start the import
On web, use the onboarding upload area or Dashboard → Import from an existing CV. On mobile, finish onboarding, open the CV tab, and tap Import CV. Accepted formats are PDF, DOCX, TXT, and RTF up to 15 MB.
Wait a few seconds while we read it
CuliNect extracts the text from your file, then uses AI to identify your work entries, education, certifications, and skills. This usually takes 5–15 seconds.
Review and edit everything
You'll see a full review screen with every section pre-filled. Check each entry, fix any mistakes, remove things that don't belong, and add anything the system missed. Nothing is saved yet.
Confirm the reviewed CV
On web, tap Apply to my CV. On mobile, tap Import reviewed CV. The approved entries are added to your profile in one go.
You can import again later from the web Dashboard or the mobile CV tab. Imports add entries, so review for duplicates before saving.
What gets extracted
- Your name, city, and country
- Bio or summary paragraph
- All work history entries with role, restaurant, dates, and description
- Education qualifications and institutions
- Certifications and short courses
- Skills and cuisine specialities mentioned in the text
- Years of experience (calculated from your earliest start date)
Supported file types
- PDF — works best with text-based PDFs. Scanned image PDFs (photos of a printed CV) will not extract well.
- Word (.docx) — any version of Microsoft Word or Google Docs exported as .docx.
- Plain text (.txt) — if you have your CV as a plain text file.
- Rich Text Format (.rtf) — plain formatted text exported by many editors.
Scanned image PDFs cannot be read. If your PDF is a photo of a printed page, save or retype your CV as a text document first.
What if something is wrong?
AI parsing is not perfect. Long job descriptions, unusual date formats, or non-standard section headings can confuse the reader. That's why you always get a review screen first — check every entry before saving. You can edit, remove, or add entries on that screen.
Can I import more than once?
Yes. Each import adds new entries to your profile — it doesn't overwrite what's already there. If you import the same CV twice, you'll end up with duplicate entries. Check your work history after importing.
